Ahmet Tolga Ayiklar

Ahmet Tolga Ayıklar was born in 1984 in Istanbul, Turkey. He attended Österreichisches St. Georgs-Kolleg Istanbul for 7 years before graduating from Suadiye High school in 2004. He studied Turkish Language and Literature in Istanbul University, where he developed an enthusiasm for Altaic culture. Since 2003, he has performed in many concerts with the bands he has founded in various halls and festivals. He followed his passion for Altaic culture by founding Kam Ata, a band for which he is the songwriter and producer. In order to complete Tengri Teg, the first album of Kam Ata, he went on a field research trip to Siberia and Central Asia during which he conducted meetings with distinguished musicians and artists such as Andrey Mongush and Boris Kindikov. He published Tengri Teg in 2016, throughout which influences of his Altaic journey can be observed. Tolga is also experienced in visual arts as a talented storyteller. He is experienced in narrative creation for both live performances and comic books. As a performer, Tolga is currently working on a new Kam Ata album and building his own wooden and steel instruments to be used in the recordings and storytelling performances. As a director, he filmed a series of short documentaries, which establish his unique vision on Turkish culture in Central Asia with a growing passion for filmmaking. After publishing short documentaries, he received a grand from Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Culture and Tourism to film his first feature documentary “Közüngü”.
