Callum Scott-Dyson

Callum Scott-Dyson is an award-winning filmmaker based in Seoul, South Korea, with a passion for storytelling that spans diverse mediums. Hailing from York in the North of England, Callum began making short films in his hometown before pursuing a degree in Film and Video at the Manchester School of Art. Graduating with first-class honours, he was fuelled by an unrelenting drive to continue creating. After several years crafting live-action shorts in Manchester, which were screened at festivals worldwide, he shifted his focus to music videos, eventually returning to a childhood passion: stop-motion animation. It was in stop motion that Callum rediscovered his love for the hands-on, DIY nature of filmmaking, delighting in the tactile process of building miniature sets and characters to bring his most surreal and abstract ideas to life. His stop-motion work quickly expanded to music videos across a variety of genres, working primarily with clay, plasticine, and 2D elements like card cutouts inspired by Terry Gilliam. His impressive portfolio includes videos for acclaimed artists such as Dinosaur Jr, Bombay Bicycle Club, Tim Burgess, Peking Duk, Fontaines DC, and Pup. During this period, Callum also spent three years living and working in Vietnam, infusing his work with fresh cultural influences and new perspectives. Recently, Callum has applied his unique style to short films, producing a series of mini shorts, including his latest project, The Old Man and The Robot.
