Danielle Beverly
Danielle Beverly is an award-winning independent documentary filmmaker with four feature documentaries as Director, Producer, and Camera. She works as a one-person crew to craft observational documentaries that have screened internationally at festivals and universities, been broadcast on PBS/World Channel and Al Jazeera English, and received distribution through Women Make Movies. Her latest documentary, QATAR STARS (2023) follows a rhythmic gymnastics school, with girls aged 9-15 from Qatar, Lebanon, Egypt, Ukraine, UK. Her funders have included: Paul Robeson Fund for Independent Media, Doha Film Institute, NYSCA, Puffin, Illinois Arts Council, University Film & Video Foundation, and Diederich College Initiative on Communication Ethics, Values and Social Justice. Fellowships include: Flaherty Fellowship, Mary L. Nohl Artists Fellowship for Established Artists, BAVC National MediaMaker Fellowship. Beverly is also an Assistant Professor at Northwestern University in Radio, Television and Film, and Core Faculty in the MFA in Documentary Media Program. From 2015-2023 Beverly also taught at Northwestern University in Qatar, where 80% of her students were women filmmakers. She is a Board Member of University Film & Video Association.
