Karin Isabelle Ochsner

Considered disabled, Karin suffers from an invisible and unexplained illness. This health challenge forced her to leave her normal life in Switzerland and embark on a lifelong adventure to find places overseas to live in order to make it possible to keep functioning despite her illness. Continuously turning allergic to what she was exposed to, made her change her job many times, but keeping mostly in the education sector. However, she reached a point where she wasn’t able to function anymore, but didn’t get the support she needed to survive, as her illness wasn’t understood. That’s when she decided to accept the help of friends and produce a documentary called SURFING TO SURVIVE about her issue to raise awareness and call for assistance. This film changed her life and with the support and new knowledge gained, she is now dedicated to keep producing films and put her inspiring messages out there, still working in the education sector, but reaching a wider audience than ever before.
