Lasserre Michael

M. LASSERRE is born in Nice in the early 80s and has shown a passion for all forms of arts since his very early years. A child of the era of the Internet and the new technologies, he has explored ways of integrating digital technologies through arts since his teens. During that period, he has produced various paintings and works of art using the symbolic representation and graphic strength of the binary. His early abstract work also includes computer and pictorial elements; at that period, he grew fond of auteur and experimental cinema. It was during that period that he took on Lucy(-x) as his artist name. In the mid-2000s, he met F. Sanchez. Both embarked on a journey of producing video clips and experimental videos. In parallel he joined a music band as V.J. and clipper and began to exhibit his pictorial and audio-visual work on the Côte d’Azur scene. At the end of 2010, he worked with Florent Mattei on the short movie “Impact” as editor, chief camera operator and sound designer. The film has been awarded with Best experimental film at the international festival “Un Festival C’est Trop Court”. From 2011, he divided his time between New-York and the Côte d’Azur and for a couple of years he worked on the development of a new exhibition based on his experience in N.Y.C. During that American period, he made his first 53-min movie “R-eves”, for which he held the positions of director, cameraman and editor. He also created the score of the movie which was presented at the “Experimental Movie Festival” in Sydney. Between 2010 and 2022, he created experimental short movies which have been selected and screened at various international festivals and exhibition venues. He continues to work as a V.J. for different groups and got programmed at the “OVNI festival” taking place at the Center for Contemporary Cultures (Le 109) in Nice. At the same time, he’s working as a Creative Producer and Chief Editor at the International Athletics Federation, directing for the Federation, amongst other works, two movies which were screened at the “San Sebastian International Sports Film Festival”. He won a first prize at Sportel in 2020. For the last 6 years he has been writing, producing, directing and editing his first feature movie “Memory of Water”.
