In my creations, I have never limited the choice of expression methods. Although I am on a career path mainly focused on animation and dynamic visuals, what matters more is that I love creating and innovating. I believe that the precise selection and combination of expression methods is the foundation of a good work. During my student years, I have kept exploring different visual forms, with a focus on animation. Whether it is moving images or still images, I choose the right method to present the content features a work needs. Therefore, I am not only skilled in 2D drawing, but I also improved my 3D skills during my graduate studies. At the same time, I learned stop-motion animation, material usage, and music production. Ten years ago, when I first entered the art field and started learning drawing techniques and fine arts, I already showed an interest in how different tools perform on different canvas materials. Also, since childhood, I have had the habit of building stories, reshaping reality structures, and studying philosophy. These led to more creative ideas, which made me unsatisfied with only using comics or illustrations as still forms. So I stepped into animation. My first short animation was called Cheep (2023). I used my best technique, hand-drawing, to make a watercolor stop-motion animation. It helped me explore the visual experience of moving shapes and express some of my thoughts on human nature in relation to pets and animals. Later, in graduate school, I created a mixed-media short film called G-Keygen using 3D, 2D, and stop-motion. It not only showed my thinking about the digital age and young people’s self-awareness, but also highlighted my familiarity with different mediums and my study of montage techniques. I also tried mixing and composing music by open-source sample for the first time, using different music elements to add emotions that are hard to show only through visuals. In the future, I hope to become more skilled in what I have learned through different projects and create works with more depth by combining my experience. In my next work, I will continue studying how sound and image work together, and also present more of my sci-fi ideas and storytelling.
