Phil Dadson

Phil Dadson : visual artist & musician with a transdisciplinary practice including moving-image, sound arts, building and performing with experimental musical instruments, sound sculptures, digital media, music compositions, graphic scores and drawings. Performance, moving-image and foregrounding sound has been a feature of his practice since the early 70s, referencing body, land, nature, triadics and the human condition. Founder/composer/performer of legendary NZ music/performance group, From Scratch (1974-ongoing). Recent exhibitions include WEATHER CHOIR (World Weather Network / TeTuhi websites 2022), DRAWN IN (Trish Clark Gallery, Auckland, 2022); 546 MOONS (Auckland Arts Festival and Te Uru Wait?kere Contemporary Gallery, Auckland, 2018); GROUNDSWELL:1971-79 (Auckland Art Gallery Toi o T?maki, 2018).JUMP into the Unknown (56th Venice Biennale - collateral events 2015) Dadson's work was also shown at CIRCUIT's Distributors' Screening at the Oberhausen Short Film Festival in 2018.
