Samik Roy Choudhury

Samik grew up in an environment of discussing Art, culture and films in the city Kolkata, India; which inspired him toward filmmaking. His father was a stage actor, his mother was a classical singer, and his grandfather was a writer. He met the legendary editor of all Satyajit Ray films, the Late Mr Dulal Dutta during his college days and took lessons in editorial aesthetics from him. He started his career as a science reporter for the Science Association of Bengal after doing his bachelor's in Journalism and Mass Communication. Working with three-time Oscar-winning VFX studio, Rhythm & Hues studios, opened the gateway to understanding the new age film process. During this job, Samik has done short films independently and finally took a step forward towards this passion more seriously, to produce and direct his first feature film ‘D-major’ back in 2015-16. He continued his love for short films through ad films he wrote and directed for national campaigns. His feature film ‘Beline’ is in the post-production stage, while he completed his flick ‘Mushroom’.
