AYURVEDA - THE SCIENCE OF LIFE

Ayurveda attracts more and more people, the subject is haunted by newspapers, magazines, talk shows and wellness offers. Ayurveda centres are springing up like mushrooms - in the East as well as in the West. At the beginning of November 2019, German Chancellor Angela Merkel signed a declaration of intent with India on the Ayurvedic medical system. A well-founded examination of the topic is on the agenda, so that Ayurveda can not be understood as pseudo-medicine, but rather as a universally applicable, alternative healing method and way of life with millennia-old tradition. Ayurveda is much more than just a special healing method, a special kind of massage or a conscious possibility of nutrition. Ayurveda is more than just a slogan, Ayurveda is a way of life and the knowledge of life par excellence. The aim of Ayurvedic medicine is to prevent disease through a healthy lifestyle and, if the disease has already occurred, to restore the balance of body and mind through a wide range of holistic therapies. Ayurveda is a universal knowledge, therefore it is not only applicable in India but worldwide. It describes a science that has integrated universally valid principles into a uniquely diverse medical system. What the holy men, the Rishis, wrote down thousands of years ago in the Vedas and what they received in deepest meditation can be found again in many advanced cultures in different countries of the earth. In contrast to other advanced civilizations, however, the ancient knowledge of this profound healing method has been preserved in India. The film team, consisting of cameraman and producer Helmut Lechthaler, meditation teacher and author Markus Dietl, co-author Astrid Kofler and Ayurveda doctor Dr. Abilash Anand, travelled all over India and created in sensitive pictures an overall picture of Ayurveda, interspersed with interviews with Indian Ayurveda doctors, gurus and outstanding specialists on the various branches of Ayurveda. The medicine, the architecture and the nutrition, - the Ayurveda flows into all areas of life. The film "Ayurveda - the knowledge of life" informs and clarifies, offers a fascinating insight into the versatility of this special way of life.
