METAI

‘METAI’ (eng. ‘seasons’ or ‘year’) is a short experimental art film intended to give meaning to Lithuanian folk art, its performance, national costumes, Lithuanian folk instruments and to present works common to the stage in a non-traditional concert space - in nature, in different seasons, thus introducing the viewer to the seasonality and contrasts of Lithuanian nature and traditions. Although the film is about Lithuanian culture and art, at the same time, it is also about youth, Vilnius University students, alumni and what culture and ensemble means to them. The film ‘METAI’ stands out for its bright four parts of the film, each dedicated to different times of the year, interspersed with short excerpts from the life of the Vilnius University Song and Dance Ensemble through the lenses of a documentary.
