RH Thomson is Grandpa. He is hurt. His late wife, Isabelle, was the birder. What will he and granddaughter Dearie find on their pilgrimage in search of the critically endangered Northern Curlew? Music, dance and mystery follow Grandpa and Dearie on their transformative journey to find The Last Curlew. BThe Last Curlew is an adaptation of the pioneering Canadian environmental novel by Fred Bodsworth, Last of the Curlews. It is brought to vivid life by director Gregory J. Sinclair with spectacular cinematography by David F. Mewa, and stars Canadian icon RH Thomson with rising star Liyou Abere. It tells the story of unlikely travellers on a day-long hike that becomes a journey of transformation and faith, bridging generational and cultural divides. The story is told with mixed elements of narrative dance and music, with the music composed by internationally celebrated Canadian composers R. Murray Schafer, Alexina Louie and Marjan Mozetich, all performed by harpist Lori Gemmell, violinist Etsuko Kimura and dancer Julia Aplin.
