When young, Pete Parr resolved to live a life of domestic art. This film slowly figures its way through his artworks, notes, and ideas. We see his puns expressed both visually and with words, his observations on everyday life and relationships. We are introduced to his humour, predilections and preoccupations. As Pete’s friends and family follow his plan (“we’re performing according to the strict guidelines we have been set.”) we see Pete’s last artwork being enacted in his much-loved Wilko, the British home products store. Years later Wilko itself ends due to financial collapse. Two quite different sorts of closure. ‘The Great Escape via Wilko or Pete Parr’s last artwork’ was made by two people who lived next door to Pete for over 40 years.
