Ever since Antoine hung a monumental portrait in his living room, his grasp on reality has been slipping, rendering him incapable of leaving his apartment. Now Antoine must confront the sinister forces lurking within the painting. "The Man Within" is the story of possession, capturing the moment of enactment. Directed by Pierre de Mûelenaere and Antoine Veldekens, "The Man Within" marks their debut as a directing duo. It serves as the first chapter of a larger story called "The Deep," which revolves around a series of demonic paintings.

REVIEWS:

The painting isn’t just an object but a mirror of inner darkness. The Man Within is about the demons we hang on the wall so we don’t have to face them inside.

Ioanna Glaser

The film feels like a meditative nightmare as if Bergman met Lynch in a Belgian apartment. The black-and-white palette isn’t just aesthetic; it’s a mental trap.

Ella Guidetti

The frame, light, and sound make it feel like the film itself is possessed. It has that “totalist” energy more a performance than a story.

Alexis Shaw

The protagonist faces his own shadow. The portrait is a projection of guilt, fear, and loneliness. It’s precise and deeply unsettling.

Kirill Averin

The film builds atmosphere through minimalism and dark contemplation. Eight minutes of pure focus. That’s rare.

Xenia Damico

The compositions feel like antique photographs. The light seems to come from the underworld. This film isn’t to watch, it’s to absorb with your eyes.

Michael Richard

It felt like I was sitting next to him, suffocating too. That isolation, the lamp’s light, his stare. It all drags you into the abyss.

Jorge Rodriguez

The fear grows out of silence. Every shot feels like the breath of something unseen behind you.

Juan Carlos Garcia Sanchez

It reminded me of early Polanski and the Hungarian school of light. That restraint and coldness. Pure European anxiety aesthetic
