Calvin Herbst

Calvin Herbst is a director from Texas who spent formative years in Savannah, Georgia before relocating to Germany, where he lives and works today. His work is drawn to memory, personal history, and the moments that stay with you long after the details have blurred. He is drawn to stories that sit at the boundary between what happened and what was felt. Sliver of Light is his first film made with the explicit intention of returning to a lived experience and illustrating it through image and sound. It is a personal narrative told directly from memory.
