David Stout

David Stout is a media artist, composer and director working at the nexus of sound, image and emerging audio-visual technologies. He is cofounder of the seminal interactive media ensemble, NoiseFold, whose multi-screen projections, sound works, and performances have toured worldwide from Casablanca, Morocco to Marfa, Texas. With an overlapping interest in dynamic evolutionary systems, eco-awareness, interdisciplinarity and the evolution of hybrid cultural aesthetics, Stout embraces a playful and expansive approach to filmmaking and related intermedia artforms. These conceptual threads find expression in his ongoing engagement with large scale architectural projection, and operatic audio-visual performances. His projects transcoding image into sound include a series of groundbreaking immersive installations with embedded real-time VR that explore artificial life and generative landscape. David is currently examining the potentials and pitfalls of gen-AI, utilizing the medium to imagine multi-dimensional quantum realities and visualize audio-visual forms of the future.
