Nicole Edensbo

Nicole Edensbo, born on October, 1988, is a first-time director from Sweden. With a background in theater and her experience as an elite athlete in freediving, Edensbo has developed a unique artistic perspective, shaped by a deep engagement with existential questions. Freediving, holding one’s breath underwater, ultimately inspired her to write a screenplay set in the vastness of space, using the element of water to bring that vision to life. Her debut film, L i V, is an exploration of the human experience, the importance of presence, and the fundamentals of being. The underwater setting creates a sense of weightlessness, freeing the images from gravity's constraints and imbuing them with an otherworldly quality. Through an experimental and abstract approach, Edensbo's filmmaking style invites viewers to slow down and immerse themselves in her vision. Characterized by deliberate pacing, her work offers a contemplative respite from the frenetic pace of modern life. Currently, Edensbo is developing new projects that continue to probe the complexities of human existence, exploring contrasts and paradoxes through an art house lens.
