The 3rd edition ART EXPERIMENTAL SCREENINGS FILM FESTIVAL FRESH STREAM

Sergei Paradjanov (1924-1990), a brilliant filmmaker of Armenian origin, remains a legendary figure in the opposition to the Soviet regime which landed him in prison, notably for homosexuality, for years. A pilgrimage to his house in Yerevan by a French director of Russian origin who admires his work turns into a mystical experience in search of the spirit of the Master.

The film is based on documentation of dreams of "Alternativa Teen Lab" in Bishkek participants. A dream is like it's about you, but not entirely. That's why talking about dreams isn't as scary as talking about yourself. It's not so scary to share your strangest, most intimate dreams with each other, to show them to strangers. But, in reality, there is so much of us in these dreams. What we fear; our culture; our hopes and experiences. Talking to each other, creating images for these dreams allowed us to become very close. We realized that inside each of us lives an entire universe. We would like to invite viewers to touch it, so that this film resembles a poem or a dream itself, where a completely different, unfamiliar logic operates compared to ordinary life. "Alternativa Teen Lab" helps teenagers talk about complex and pressing issues through cinematography.

The scarred history of the Northeastern region of Thailand, in the years 2444-2445 B.E. (1901-1902 C.E.), a momentous uprising occurred in the city of Ubon, situated within the governance of the Siamese state. The Phi Bun rebels, wielding both power and spiritual beliefs, gathered people to resist the ruling authority. Consequently, the state had to confront the Phi Bun to eliminate the threat to Siam's security and restore goodness to the land.

This is a tale about a young woman driven to the edge of heartbreak, who is visited by a ghoul in her sleep and awakens in the mythic woods. Being thrown into swirling turmoil of her own soul, she flounders through the forest in search of truth, freedom and forgiveness. The story is an experimental re-imagined fairytale representing the final phase of the self-healing process.

"Culture Talk on the Radio" is a hybrid, narrative and documentary, a road movie and also an art film and for the most part affectively a silent movie with some music. Then we only hear the conversation between the art critic Christoph Tannert and the well-known artist René Schoemakers coming from the speakers of a car radio. As for the road movie it is about a lonely truck driver who works for a company that specializes in the delivery of fruit and art. When the truck driver picks up a hitchhiker this interrupts his daily routine. For almost the whole time they listen to a radio program that just happens to be broadcast. Tannert is the presenter of the culture and arts program. The conversation is real and has not been scripted. Some of the things referred to during this conversation are taken up in the fictive part of the film. The film sequences become a silent movie once the radio has been turned on, allowing the content of the conversation about art to creep into the narrative and eventually gain equal footing with the power of the moving pictures.
