Amazon Visions is a collaboration between British filmmaker, Hing Tsang, and Peruvian performer and puppeteer, Jose Navarro. Taking inspiration from the biodiversity of the Amazon rainforest and its unique ecology, Amazon Visions is a film for all ages. Borrowing in equal measure from contemporary developments in ecological thinking and indigenous folklore, Amazon Visions juxtaposes the movement and gestures of trees, insects, fish, reptiles and mammals. A range of puppetry techniques, both old and new, bring the forest to life. Audiences will encounter different species, immerse themselves in different plant life and travel across tropical waters. The sounds of the forest are also brought to life through a soundscape composed by Ukrainian musician, Nick Acorne. Lyrical and atmospheric music, representing each species and their encounters with other species, are at the fore of a soundscape which also integrates the sounds of the forest.

Shifting walls is an exploration of the opposition between duality and non-duality. Although the 1st has dominated our civilization and culture for millennia-long, in recent times we see our thinking, feeling and acting tending more and more explicitly towards and using the principles and possibilities of non-duality. Walls are divisions in stone and can divide, exclude and confine. But they can also offer protection and security, and within the walls can be space for development and freedom The video depicts a dialogue between 2 walls. One, filmed from outside, is an impenetrable heavy and immobile mass, meant to literally exclude and enclose. In contrast, the other, filmed from within, puts everything that exists in a different light and creates a space for spiritual freedom. The two seem to exclude and contradict each other in appearance and in their function but ultimately enter into a connection, in which creative space and earthly materiality form a powerful and agile unity.

A hazmat-suited researcher in a bathroom/toilet, credited only as the slime narrator, talks about discovering a new kind of parasite that attempts to complete its life cycle within various contemporary media platforms. It quickly emerges that our narrator has possibly started to lose his mind or has been affected by the parasite as he explores topics such as Virtual Reality worm simulations, our symbiotic relationship to 7-11s, AI censorship parasites, to the appearance of programmable dark matter, slime TV game shows, parasite pornography and mutant YouTube cat videos.

Symbols are often born with intended messages or ideals, but their most enduring associations accumulate over time. Symbols are not content, but are instead vessels in which content is stored by societies. As the celebrated American identity designer Paul Rand once stated: “It is only by association…that a logo [symbol] takes on any real meaning. It derives its meaning and usefulness from the quality of that which it symbolizes.” Meanings come and go. They amass in rich, messy, complicated, diverse, beautiful layers. Accumulated meanings can be contradictory and problematic. Symbols can be tarnished by misuse, replacing associations of pride and unity with embarrassment, shame, and fear. Symbols inevitably come to represent lived realities rather than lofty ideals. This work may be presented with vertical or horizontal orientation

“Three Colours” is a meditation on the fragmented nature of lived and remembered time. It begins like a vague memory unexpectedly surfacing in the mind. What was it? You attempt to reconstruct it, but it remains elusive. You gather the fragments, piecing them together. When did it occur? It speaks of people, of music. Who were they? What were you doing? What was this music? Was it the winter? Was it at the sea? Springtime perhaps? At moments, clarity emerges, only to swiftly dissipate. It fades, and then fades further. It repeats, it morphs. Was it truly a memory, or perhaps a dream? But then, who was the dreamer? What unfolded in this dream? How did it conclude? And where were you? Who were you? On a visual level the film operates through scenes that follow one another as if in free association. The material varies in its features and quality. Some scenes are in perfect resolution and glorious colour, while others are dark, almost black and white, full of noise and compression artifacts. This is a deliberate choice as it conveys something of the fragmentation of what comprises our thoughts and memories. Of huge importance is the sound, which is also designed associatively, with music, field recordings, and noise blending seamlessly, morphing as the film progresses. The film begins with ambience and noise that becomes music, and ends with music that becomes noise and ambiance again. A voiceover punctuates the material, sometimes supporting and sometimes contrasting what we see.
