In a silent environment, artificial intelligence meets the boundless human mind and together they unite their powers to create a music and dance piece of scientific fantasy. The lyrics, composed by a robotic mind simulating the writing style of the great author William Shakespeare, draw upon a poem about Silence and how people perceive it today. The music was composed by a team of music producers, while the words are voiced by the unique, yet artificial, voice of the late English actor, Alan Rickman. Our protagonist performs theatrical dance movements, which constitute his unique way of communication. At times, he manages to harmonize with the space-time and feel tranquility within the silence, while at other times, he faces challenges. Will he, however, emerge unscathed from this enthralling blend of the artificial and the human?

4 dancers – 2 continents - 4 stories – 1 song How do we express what truly lies within? When do we show our truth? When do we hide it? In the depths of joining & growing into each other's lives, we experience an overlap of present & past, of different stories that all have one thing in common: the surreal lens of truth illuminating the multiplicity of becoming. The movement and music of our dance film intertwines with the heart’s freedom & the interplay of different emotions, overlapping, collapsing and reflecting by gravity's pull. Looking into the true essence of who we are, we find the unwavering gaze which follows the longing to be understood, seen and perceived as truth. What keeps you accountable?

The patterns and qualities that organise the movement of the dancing body and those that form the various geological surfaces belong to the same order. The boundaries between the inner and outer world are conventional. Nature inhabits our bodies, which are simultaneously immersed in it. In the summer of 2021, after a solo journey through the mountain valley of the Engadine, preceded by several months of movement research in a Hamburg studio, choreographer and contemporary dance artist Maria Zimpel, together with filmmaker Claudio von Planta, completed the shooting of the choreographic film "Waterdances / Yes Poems". The leading idea of the film oscillates around the vision of a dancing body as a transmitter. The choreography moves between real and imagined landscapes, exploring the poetics of water’s dances through the work of moving images. The geometric choreographic patterns are confronted with different geological micro-surfaces. The dance conveys a sensory properties of the latter: temperature, adhesion, softness, moisture. Through the camera's eye, these micro-locations are transformed into scenes in which the dancing body interacts with the environment: uses its qualities, tuning into its rhythms and facing the sublime forces that permeate it. To tell a non-linear story of the body’s encounters with the natural landscape, the choreography combines the language of dance art with that of image, clothing design, text and music. Text: Jadwiga Zimpel

The connection between six children and nature is explored through improvised dance and movement, showcasing the unique perspective of children as they interact with nature through play. Through the eyes of these young adventurers, we rediscover the world and how to cherish and comprehend our environment. In a landscape where the authentic voices of children often play second fiddle to adult interpretations, "Birds" is a revelation. Here, children are not just passive actors but potent co-creators, channeling their unfiltered creativity and depth. Join us on this poetic journey to rediscover our lost connections, one where the chirps, rustles, and dances speak louder than words. Over six transformative months, a class of third graders, alongside five dedicated artists, delved into a multidisciplinary art experiment. Their mission? To explore, understand, and articulate the rhythm and essence of their local woodland and birdlife. Under guidance of director Liv Runesdatter, this journey flourished into stunning installations, music, dance, and prose, all mirroring the nuanced language, movement, and habitats of the birds. The film climaxes as their artistic endeavours converge with the forest, the source of their inspiration. The deliberate choice of not including dialogue not only enhances its universal appeal but also amplifies the potent message it carries. Through the children's profound interactions, we're confronted with the urgent need to revisit our relationship with nature. In a world burdened by its own excesses, their vivid and authentic expressions might just hold the key to unlocking a dormant connection we once treasured. Can their instinctual wisdom remind us of truths we've forgotten?

"Ra Rising Sun" is a track from Gabbarein's self-titled debut album, out May 3 on Our Silent Canvas Records, a non-profit record label based in Woodstock, NY. The visually captivating music video produced and directed by Ragnarok Film (Wardruna, Kalandra, Gåte) was filmed on location in Trondheim, Norway. The video for "Ra Rising Sun" offers viewers a stunning representation of the project themes exploring incredible nature sites including Trollkirka, aka Troll Church, a waterfall and natural pool in Elnesvågen, Norway. Gabbarein is the ethereal Nordic folk duo of Norwegian vocalist and sound healer Cecilie Hafstad and American composer-producer Christopher Bono. Their debut album was created entirely improvisationally in a house on the fjord in Lyngen, Norway. "Ra Rising Sun" sonically captures the awe-inducing landscapes and emotional depths realized during Gabbarein's one-of-a-kind Arctic Circle recording sessions. Cecilie Hafstad explains, "(Ra Rising Sun) is sung in a channeled 'language' that I do not consciously understand but that made perfect sense to me when I sang and created the track." She describes the lyrical themes as emphasizing the cyclical nature of life, the struggle for balance, and the profound significance of the sun as a symbol of birth, growth, and consciousness. Christopher Bono reflects, "This track is probably my personal favorite on the album; it represents something ancient, something ancestral, something beyond words. In fact, I think it is the track that best reflects our style, displaying the arc of gentleness to intensity that is a defining character of the album." As a whole, Gabbarein is a moving and powerful listening experience that transports audiences to the sublime Arctic setting of Norway’s Northern Territory, where the mystical appearance of a White Reindeer served as a spiritual guide during the recording process.
