I was deeply invested in the character dynamics. The script takes time to establish Loretta's trauma with her paranoid mother and the bullying she faces from people like Arlon and Mason. Archie pretending to be her knight in shining armor before revealing his true motives to feed her blood to his deranged mother, Myrtle, makes for a gripping and emotional psychological horror.
