When a zombie outbreak erupts at Marimore High School, newly dumped AP English teacher Sadie is forced to survive alongside her cowardly ex, Sam, who had just ended their relationship to be with someone younger. Trapped in the school’s blood-soaked halls, Sadie repeatedly fights off the undead while Sam consistently abandons her, proving himself selfish and spineless. After being bitten, Sadie continues battling through the chaos and even saves Sam from a horde, only to finally turn and infect him herself. In a darkly ironic twist on romantic devotion, the two end up shambling into the apocalypse together, “forever” at last.

This is a highly empowering role for a young actress playing Sadie, who becomes increasingly badass as the apocalypse unfolds. The script uses the high school zombie outbreak brilliantly as a backdrop to explore the fallout of a toxic breakup.
