Christos Tombras

A psychoanalyst based in London, Christos has been involved in the realm of experimental film-making since the era of Super-8. He has always been drawn to the DIY ethos of the medium, consistently employing a similar approach in his work. Over the years, he has transitioned through the more "serious" film formats, such as 16mm and 35mm, before embracing digital film-making in the nineties. Since then, he has steadfastly explored the potential offered by digital technology. Christos's work encompasses themes ranging from memory and lived experience to reflections on the past and present. Characterised by a non-narrative yet evocative and associative approach, his films have been described as abstract and impressionistic. They challenge viewers to engage with the audiovisual material in their own unique ways. Christos has showcased his work at festivals across Europe, including his native Greece, as well as in countries such as Sweden, France, Germany, and Spain, among others, and beyond.
