Massimo Selis
Born in Nuoro in 1975, he moved to Cagliari where he completed the first two years of the bachelor's degree program in psychology. He continued his studies at La Sapienza University in Rome. However, a passion for filmmaking grew in him, so he attended the one-year filmmaking course at the Professione Cinema school, where he took classes in directing, assistant directing, screenwriting, photography and production. He later graduated in Filmmaking at the New York Film Academy and specialized in cinematography at the Shot Academy in Rome. He worked for years as an assistant director on feature films, TV series, short films and music videos, working with such productions as Sorpasso, Tao Due, Lux Vide, Immagine e Cinema, Rodeo Drive, Viacolvento, among others. Parallel to filmmaking, he has organized numerous cultural and creative activities, projects to promote reading and creative writing, and he gives lectures both online and live on topics of art and spirituality. Over the years he has also published numerous articles and essays for online and print journals, including Quaderni della Sapienza (Irfan edizioni), the art magazine Dionysos (Tabula Fati edizioni), L'intellettuale Dissidente, Culturelite, and Il Pensiero Forte. He is currently editor for Giubbe Rosse News and chief editor for Idee&Azione magazine. In 2022, he founded his production company Phausania Film. As screenwriter, director, and producer, he made the feature documentary Steps on the sea, the stop motion animated short film Every encounter is an elsewhere, and he is currently in the development stage for his new documentary.
